Labor Day
And so it is on this rare occasion that i will dip my foot into the cesspool called politics, i mean really politics is the last bastion of the bland and unoriginal, from the incumbents to the candidates the the fucking blowhard commentators who think the shit they spew is truth, when in fact they are opinions and opinions as we all know are like assholes as they saying goes which reminds me of an old Bill Burroughs piece about the talking asshole but unfortunately for us these talking assholes aren't going to take over the real assholes any time in the near future...
of course it might be a bit obvious that i lean a bit to the left, well maybe more than just lean i may damn well be all the way fucking off the chart but hell just cuz i don't think you should have the right to carry a gun (seems Americans get all up in arms about this but the fine print says well regulated militia) and that a woman should be in charge of her own fucking body (instead of some old grey haired men who can't remember what a vagina looks like and stumble around saying shit like "legitimate rape", wha? are you fucking serious? i don't know what's scarier the fact this moron is in office or the fact that he was actually elected), and that a i believe in a fair wage for my labor (though my wages have been stagnating since the Pope of Conservatism, Ronnie "I can't recall" Reagan was in office) doesnt' necessarily make me a bad guy or a deadbeat or whatever my tea cup toting friends want to call me...
See i could give a fuck about politics, in this country it's two sides of the same turd, basically they are bought and sold by their masters and have been for ages, the masters being the captains of industry who really run this country and while i've never been a big fan of these men, Ford and Carnegie and Mellon and all those Gilded Age Goons i at least had some appreciation for their views, i mean Ford knew that it was great to build cars and get rich but if the guys who built his cars couldn't afford to drive one he was more than likely fucked, you see though the 1% like to take credit from everything from ass cream to zippers nothing gets made if you don't have people to work the factories, from the engineers, to the guys on the assembly line, to the janitor and salesman and truck driver, without the system the product is a dream and the riches are a dream and all us poor little old workers want is a fair days pay for a fair days graft but of course these days in H'america we don't even build shit anymore, we are more in the business of extorting wealth or at least a small percentage of us are and the rest are left to suck the left hind teet...
But really what's the difference? Change? that's what i got in my pocket and soon i might not even have that, see i've been listing laborer as my occupation for so long i don't really know how to do anything else and in a little less than 45 days i'll change that to unemployed and hell at that point i'd have all the time in the world to listen to the respective sides pitch their shit at me, well along with the Koch brothers and other assorted jerk-offs all trying to bait me into voting for what's best for them cuz hell it's what the shareholder wants now right? and come that day i'll still go and cast my vote but my vote will be cast hoping that these fucking muppets will do their best to stay out of my life and not bother me to much cuz really i don't care what they do as long as they leave me the fuck alone... and me? well i'll hang out with the boyos and read books and dust of the resume and stare out the window, i'll clear brush and trim shrubs, i'll demo a bathroom and clean out the garage, i'll graft away for the boyos and me, hell maybe i'll even bake cookies for the PTA or something... so happy Labor Day to me and to you and to all of those who went before to try and help the cause of the worker... cuz just because i dress like this doesn't mean i'm a communist.

i like to play your music when i start reading your posts - and Billy Bragg is the most appropriate Labor Day soundtrack. i like this one, but 'great leap forward' would be my number one pick.
yeah. we don't make anything anymore besides hamburgers and spreadsheets. try to survive in the wilderness with that shit when it all goes to hell.
This may be the first election since I turned 18 that I won't vote. I don't take that lightly. But voting is a de facto approval of this whole mess and I find it so repugnant that I refuse to participate. Our old stomping grounds -- Ohio -- has become THE state to win. Funny. It didn't feel all that important when I lived there.
Did you know that the "legitimate rape" jack-off is on the Science Committee?
"...bought and sold by their masters..." Ain't that the truth. I haven't listened to either one of them. Have no stomach for political rhetoric. And I'm with you, I may sit this one out. The problem is is that no one gets to run for POTUS unless they've already answered to many masters. And well, it takes a certain personality to make it that far. I've no answers short of total reformation.
But who has time for that. ;)
