Are You Ready for the Summer

Well are you? see for the first time in their young lives the boyos won't have to get up and get shuffled off to some daycare/daycamp bullshit, yes i've procured a nanny, well not really she's just the normal sitter and stuff but she comes at a price cheaper than daycare and shit so i'm getting a steal and the boyos get to stay home and do cool shit cuz the nanny/sitter is top notch and maybe next year i'll get the summer off so i can stay home with them seeing as my time here at the Big World Bank Machine is swiftly coming to a close, yes the ship is still sinking and out of over the 350 some people who used to work here there are less than 40 left and i just happen to be one of them, good work if you can get it... even temporarily...

and yesterday was Nick Disaster's third birthday but between birthday fun and the I-mac's soccer game i didn't really have time to get a new pic up for the little dude, i'm sure one will be forthcoming shortly but last night after a long day El Padrone hit the peace pipe and attempted to do technical shit on the computer and with his phone in order to post a pic but instead fucked all kind of shit up and settled for flipping channels between hockey and b-ball and nodding in and out of consciousness and eating Fruit Loops or what could be described as the healthier version there of...

As for me i got nothing really other than to list the shows i'm going to this summer, that is of course in between trips to the pool and the park, the odd amusement park here and there, a rib cook-off or two and lounging around on the back deck drinking beer, of course shit kicks off tonight with a free ticket to see...

yes it's Mr. Danzig himself in the burgh and doing a career retrospective which means i'll hopefully get to hear some beloved Misfits tunes, as for the rest of the summer, there is Los Campesinos in June followed by The Men in July and possibly Beach House if i get real ambitious, come August we get M83 then My Morning Jacket with Band of Horses opening up and in September we get... Guided By Voices and the Walkmen which means about the time i lose my gig i'll be getting drunk and going to see two of my favorite bands... about all i could ask for is a visit from the newly re-formed Afghan Whigs and the boys from Japandroids and i'd be fucking set... just please don't show up in October when i get shuffled off to that place with the Mouse and the castle (maybe) cuz i'll be really fucking bummed... (and for the record my sideburns currently put Glenn's to shame in that video above) so... Mother/ tell you children not to walk my way/ tell you children not to hear my words/ what they mean what they say/ Mother...

Another life lesson for you in anticipation.

You can't avoid the mouse. The mouse is calling to your children. You can't avoid the mouse. The mouse will ream out your wallet.

Wooohoo!
I'm actually perusing which shows I'll be seeing this summer, too. I know Weezer for sure, but that's mostly to take Gilda since she loves them.

UB- i know all about the mouse, Kid A has already been and now it's Kid B's turn to check it out (which means Kid A gets to go back of course)

Sybil- Nick Disaster, all of 3yrs old now, really likes the new Jack White album and has been going through a bit of a Billy Bragg phase.

I want to see all of those shows. Top two are Walkmen and Band of Horses. Modest Mouse is in town here later this month but tickets sold out the same day. :(

My son is working in the 'burgh this week... i was horrified to think that he'd had a chance to see Mr. D live, and that i was a bit of a maternal failure for being behind in my blog reading...

sadly, i'll just be able to tell him that danzig was supposed to be in the 'burgh.

hope it doesn't start your summer concert lineup off on too much of a bummer...

Ain't summer grand. Lucky boys w/a nanny. Wish I'd been able to do that for my kids when I was working for big corporate. Well, I guess they're no worse for the wear, but I'll bet they'd a been happier then, with someone who could just take them to the pool.

Glad you're no worse for the wear, too. ;)
